Important Update for P-EBT Food Benefits Covering the 2020-21 School Year

New York State continues to distribute Pandemic EBT food benefits to all households with eligible children who receive free school lunch under the National School Lunch Act. Here are important updates to the distribution as of Thursday, June 02, 2022:

  • Nearly all eligible children throughout the state, who had their in-person attendance reduced during the 2020-21 school year due to the pandemic have been issued their P-EBT food benefits. You can check your family's P-EBT food benefit transaction history by visiting www.connectebt.com or by calling 1-888-328-6399.
  • OTDA began distributing Summer P-EBT food benefits to eligible students in households located outside of New York City that are not part of a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Public Assistance household.
  • Children in the New York City area that are not part of SNAP or Public Assistance household will be issued their Summer P-EBT food benefits next.
  • Children that are part of SNAP or Public Assistance household should receive their Summer P-EBT food benefits in June.
  • OTDA will continue distributing Summer P-EBT benefits in batches through May and into June. Please check back here for the latest updates on this distribution.
  • Each eligible student will receive $375 in food benefits.
  • Recipient households should receive a text message alert when their food benefits are distributed. Families can check www.connectebt.com to see if the summer benefit was deposited.

P-EBT

Request a Replacement P-EBT or Medicaid CBIC Card

As of June 14, 2021, the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) began issuing Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) funds to cover the cost of school meals lost due to COVID-related school closures throughout the 2020-21 school year.

You need to request a replacement card ONLY if you received P-EBT funds for Spring 2020 (prior to June 14, 2021) through a P-EBT card OR a Medicaid CBIC, used the funds, AND lost or discarded the card.

You may need to call EBT Customer Service, NYS of Health Customer Service, or complete the online P-EBT Contact Form. Follow the flow chart that applies to you/ your child. Steps may vary for each child.

  • *If you still have a NYS-P-EBT card or the Medicaid CBIC you used before, you do not need a replacement*
  • *If you were ineligible for P-EBT funds for Spring 2020, you do not need to request a replacement*

Child Abuse/Neglect or Domestic Violence 

Child Abuse/Neglect or Domestic Violence Concerns for families (Non-Mandated reporters)  If you or someone you know is in a Domestic Violence situation, New York State has set up a number you can call for assistance. Please call 1-800-942-6906. They will help you find shelter and relocate. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are aware of a child that is being maltreated, abused, or neglected you can call the Office of Safety First (718-KID-SAFE) for advice on what to do, the NYS Child Abuse Hotline 1(800) 342-3720, or 911 if the child is in immediate danger.

Providing immigration support information The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) provides, at no cost, a full range of immigration services including the following: 

  • Legal assistance 
  • Immigrant youth services 
  • Domestic violence program 
  • Immigrant family services 
  • English for speakers of other languages

The New York City Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services (HRA/DSS) provides temporary help to individuals and families with social service and economic needs to help them reach independence.

Health Screening Questionnaire

ALL DOE employees, visitors, and families must complete a health screening before entering DOE facilities. This health screening must be completed on each day of arrival. This health screening can also be completed online at: https://healthscreening.schools.nyc. Upon entering the facility, if you have not completed the online health you will be asked to provide responses to the questions below.
