Principal's Message

School Year 23-24

October 6, 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The safety and well-being of all students and staff members at PS 82Q remains our highest priority. Towards that end, we are informing you that a student brought to school what was found to be a toy firearm. We report that there is no firearm at the school.

Yesterday there was a report that a student in our school was in possession of an alleged toy weapon. We immediately notified the New York City Police Department, as well as our Borough Safety Director and Superintendent. Our staff followed the appropriate safety response protocols and the situation was resolved without further incident. Most importantly, all our students and staff were safe.

We want to emphasize that weapons, including imitation pistols or gel blasters on our campus are prohibited and unacceptable. All reports are taken extremely seriously therefore please do not permit students to bring toy weapons to school. We will take every precaution and will continue to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Guidance counselors and support staff are available, as always, to assist students as needed.

We look forward to your continued partnership as we work together to ensure that we continue to provide the best and safest learning environment possible for all of its students.

Sincerely,

Grisel Rodriguez

Estimados padres/tutores,

Atentamente,

Grisel Rodríguez,

Principal
